How to Care for your Gold Ring

You need to maintain the luster of your gold wedding ring and try to avoid wear and tear. There are different factors which affect the integrity of the gold. One is the environment with its changes in weather and temperature. Another factor is your lifestyle. If you work in an office, you have less chance of damage that if you work in construction. Carrying heavy objects or chemicals can damage your ring. Gold can be scratched or dented if treated roughly.

To care for your gold ring:

1. Avoid exposing your ring to chemicals such as chlorine which can weaken the structure of the ring.

2. If you wear makeup, you should avoid exposure with powdered products.

4. When you take your ring off your finger, you should store it so that it does not get scratched or dented. You should not store your gold jewelry close to other pieces. Leave some space.

5. Clean your wedding ring with lukewarm water and a cleaning solution. You can take your ring to a jeweler to have it cleaned periodically.

6. When your jewelry gets wet, dry it, and polish it with a soft cloth or chamois.

7. If your ring still looks dull, you may want to take it to your jeweler to have it polished.
